Goodbye to a Club Legend

Goodbye to a Club Legend

Club Support Team

Rob "Mozza" Parry

Rob "Mozza" Parry has passed away after living with cancer with remarkable courage and determination. He was surrounded by his family.

Mozza was the life and soul of the club, playing for us from late 80's through to the early 2000's and skippering the 2's with distinction.

A brilliant club man, Mozza was a seamer who gave nothing away, frequently bowling 20 overs on the bounce from one end and taking huge amounts of wickets for nothing as a result of his accuracy and skill. He was a proper competitor too, batting low down the order with his hockey hands finding gaps behind square of the wicket.

Mozza's nickname was born at the cricket club. An international hockey umpire of note, Mozza was on TV, umpiring a game one Saturday and players were watching in a rain break. He came on the screen and the commentator announced "…and here's Ian Moss, today's umpire…" Mozza was born.

Latterly, Mozza had been a regular spectator down at the club. His grand children are members of our junior club and promising players in our boys and girls sections.

To say he will be massively missed is an understatement.

Goodbye Mozza, thank you for all the good times.

St Nicholas Church

All are welcome (private service for family in the Guildford Crematorium beforehand).

No specific dress code. Dad’s wishes were that people should wear anything they are comfortable in (maybe a hint of red YNWA ?).

We are asking for no flowers but donations to the St Lukes Cancer Centre Fund in Guildford, with thanks.
