2019 Vitality Blast Regional T20 Champions!

The incredible winning weekend 17th and 18th August will be long remembered with Sunday being the biggest match in Cranleigh Cricket Club’s 163 year history.

The 1st XI won on Saturday, securing promotion back to the Surrey Champ Premier League with youngsters Lewis Bedford hitting 105 Not Out batting at No 5 against Spencer and 16yr old Tom Lawes taking his first 1st X1 5 wicket haul. Congratulations both!

The following day, in the biggest match of our history, the 1st XI then beat Penzance CC in the Vitality Blast Southern T20 Final yesterday to reach the National Finals in Derby on 22nd September. We will play Swardeston Cricket Club in the semi-final and the victors then taking on Sheffield Collegiate or Toft. SAVE THE DATE! This match will be televised on Sky Sports - details will follow!

An excellent crowd c.300 supported the Club on Sunday to see Cranleigh make 169-6 in their 20 overs Seren Waters 67no and James Hamblin 46. Penzance CC couldn’t chase down the total required and in the end were all bowled out for just 58 - Jack Scriven and George Ealham three wickets apiece. An all-round team effort on a momentous day with so many people to thank!

Thank you firstly to our Cranleigh Community and Club supporters for turning out in such force - what community spirit! Your support really helped our players and was appreciated so much by them! Thank you also to the excellent Grounds Team from Cranleigh School who work so hard to produce a good wicket for our matches. Thank you to the following gentlemen who volunteered their time again - Jon Dobbe for the excellent music and Martin Williamson for taking the match photographs and sharing them with our supporters.

HERE is a link to the pictures from the day.

As ever, we are eternally grateful to our own Club Members, players and volunteers for your tireless help to deliver yet another fantastic Finals Day! What a team effort.

In other great Seniors news, the 2nd XI won on Saturday to secure their place in Div 2 of the Surrey Champ and also yesterday the Cranfold Sunday team won comprehensively to return to the top of the league.

And our midweek Surrey Slam Team won the Area Final on Tuesday night to progress to County Finals Day on September 1st – details to follow but also SAVE THE DATE! Our only defeat was the 3rd XI, who now need to secure a win or two over the balance of the season to stay in the same division, but we are sure they can do it if availability is good.
